1. Cake Servings and Cake Design

Always bear in mind cake flavours, fillings and frosting combinations while finalising a cake decoration. Not all combinations are appropriate for every cake design, specially for designer birthdays or weddings.

Before considering a cake design, kindly ensure that the cake will be suitable enough for the number of servings required.

For example, if you are looking to order a 6–8 servings cake for a specific cake design that requires a tall cake (in height), we will not be able to replicate the design to achieve similar results. The design will have to either be completely modified or re-adapted to suit your requirements. And in some cases, you will eventually have to choose a completely different cake design.

Last minute changes on cake flavour, servings and design WILL NOT be accepted.

2. Cake Order Deposits

A down-payment is mandatory to secure your date and to confirm your order. Deposits can be settled by Cash, MCB Juice or by Internet Banking Transfer.

Deposit policies by order type:

  1. Simple Birthday Cakes: 80% deposit or full payment — 1 week prior to collection date.
  2. Custom Theme Birthday Cakes & Packages: 80% deposit — 1.5 to 2 months prior.
  3. Wedding Cakes: 80% deposit — 3 months prior.
Where we have delivered what has been aligned, quoted and invoiced, but the Customer does not accept the finished cake, the deposit WILL NOT be refunded. The Customer can choose to pay the remainder and take the cake, or leave it at no extra cost.

3. Final Balance Payment and Pickup

The balance is due on or before pickup date, and before the cake leaves the premises.

If paying by Cash, correct change is appreciated as we may not have the exact change on the premises. If paying by MCB Juice or Internet Banking Transfer, the remaining balance needs to hit the account BEFORE the cake leaves the premises.

It is the responsibility of the Customer to check the state of the cake before leaving the premises. Once it has left the premises, the Customer is responsible for ensuring that the cake reaches its destination safely and is stored as per our instructions. The Customer is liable for any damage that may occur once the cake is released from our care and custody.

Pick-up Schedule:

  • Weekdays: 15:00 – 15:45
  • Saturdays: 13:00 – 14:00
  • Sundays and Public Holidays: 11:00 – 11:30 (extra charge of Rs 200)

4. Postponement / Cancellation / Refund

If the cake order has been confirmed and if for any reason the event is required to be postponed, please contact us at the earliest possible. The new date proposed will be subject to availability.

If cancellation is required, and you have paid a minimum of 80% or full balance upon order confirmation, the refund policy is as follows:

  1. Designer birthday cake packages and wedding cakes: If cancellation is made one month before the event, up to 25% of the deposit will be refunded.
  2. Simple birthday cakes: If cancellation is made at the earliest notice possible, up to 35% of the deposit will be refunded.
If cancellation is less than seven (7) days prior to your event, there will be absolutely no refunds given.

The Customer may also choose to carry forward the balance for any future purchases.

Where we cancel the booking due to illness or any other unforeseen circumstances that affects our ability to deliver the ordered cake, the deposit will be refunded in full with earliest notification to the Customer.

5. Cake Delivery Service

We offer outsourced delivery services for certain destinations at extra cost. Charges apply depending on the location. Delivery charges are to be settled directly in cash to the driver in person.

Delivery will be carried out in a safe and appropriate manner. Once delivered to the customer and change of hands has been completed with the product in appropriate condition, it is then up to the customer to store and care for the cake as per our instructions. If anything is to happen to the cake after this exchange, we are not liable for any damages.

A delivery date and time will be agreed by both parties. If the customer is not at the agreed location at the agreed time, and we are not able to contact the customer, the product will be transported back to our premises and it will be the customer’s responsibility to collect the product.

6. Return of Hired Equipment

Deposits are taken for all hired equipment such as Cake Stands & Dummies. All equipment must be returned on the agreed date or extra charges may be levied to cover hire costs.

Any damages to hired equipment will incur a reduction of deposit and even a non-refund depending on the final state of the hired equipment, in order to cover the costs involved for repair or replacement.

7. Publication Rights

By placing an order with The Cake Avenue, the Client expressly acknowledges and agrees that The Cake Avenue reserves the right to photograph and/or record the cake(s) created and to use such photographs or recordings for advertising, promotional, and publicity purposes, including but not limited to use on The Cake Avenue’s social media platforms, marketing materials, and other media, without further notice or compensation to the Client.
